National Bridal Show

Once again, The Brides’ Project will have a booth at the Spring Show and we invite everyone to stop by on your way to the cake samples. Say hello and ask questions while you’re checking out vendors and the fashion shows. Brides-to-be are free! All info can be found on their website:

See you there!

January 27 – 29, 2012

Location:
Direct Energy Centre, Exhibition Place

Show Times:
Friday: 5pm – 9pm
Saturday: 10am – 8pm
Sunday: 10am – 6pm

Once again you’ll see our lovely volunteers at the National Bridal Show, and if you happen to be passing by the shop on your way, we do have a few free passes left.  Don’t forget that there’s lots of free cake and the party bus to explore when you get hyped up on sugar.

This year they also have a Groom’s Resting Zone that apparently has buckets of ice cold beer.  Now that’s a great incentive to take that man of yours to the show!  Send him off to get you cake while you enjoy a beer.

Don’t forget to visit us …

Last weekend Vintage Hotels at Niagara-on-the-Lake hosted their annual wedding show, and we were thrilled when they invited The Brides’ Project to take part. It’s our first appearance at the show, and it was a treat!

When I laid out our white info cards, I soon realized they would disappear against the white tablecloth (note to self: bring a table runner next time!). I asked my lovely neighbour vendors if they had an extra table cloth, which was the perfect size and contrast for the cards to stand out. Thank you, dear neighbours!

Wedding show attendees were transported from Queens Landing to the Prince of Wales, then to Pillar and Post, and we were stop #2. We shared space in an elegant room at the Prince of Wales Hotel with a variety of very friendly local vendors and some of the tastiest wedding cakes around (the raspberry blew me away!).

Although Niagara-on-the-Lake is around an hour and a half away in wine country, I was pleasantly surprised to find some brides-to-be had already heard of us and been to the shop. But for the most part we were a new concept to most of the couples attending the show. We have a presence in the National Bridal Shows which take place in large convention halls, but the smaller scale and ambience of an historic hotel is more intimate. I found that people stopped longer at each table, which gave me more time to explain fully what we do and how we do it.

As you can see, we rely on word of mouth as our main form of advertising. We love to interact with people at the wedding shows, and referrals from happy clients is the buttercream icing on the wedding cake :)

Lastly, a tip of the hat goes to Karyn at Lilliput Hats for the jaunty vintage headband I wore during the show, which drew lots of compliments. It’s the most comfortable headband I’ve ever worn (a major endorsement since I have a tough time finding anything that fits my head). After the show I went down to the lake and took a few pics with it. Thanks, Karyn!

And big thanks to Stephanie Allen of Vintage Hotels for inviting us to take part in their wedding show! We’d love to participate again!

YES, it’s possible to even wear your mother’s dress (or parts of it) if you are creative enough.  We leave it in the hands of our brilliant cohorts at Ryerson’s School of Fashion Design who have taken some of our older, less fashionable dresses and created some really fun and funky pieces.  And, we’re looking forward to seeing the results from the other team at George Brown as well!  Stay tuned for that.

If you want a dress that is truly one of a kind without breaking the bank, this is the way to find it.  It’s also a great way to not only support our cause here, but offer some additional experience and FUN for an up and coming Canadian designer.  The ‘before’ and ‘after’ shots in this poster show you the depth of talent we’re dealing with, and these dresses are now available for sale in the shop!  Come on in to see!

Hiya! We just finished Day 2 of the National Bridal Show and we’re loving it! Lots of people are getting to know us and what we do for the community, and we have one more day to spread the word at the Mississauga International Centre. If you haven’t already stopped by our booth (#540, a few steps from The Bay), come and say hello. One of our Ryerson Fashion Team designers was at the booth for half of today, and we had three volunteers on hand (including the webmaster, Yours Truly) ready to answer all of your questions. Ask away!

I shot these at the end of the day, after Dorothy and Kristin had been talking to the public for 10 and a half hours! I think they’re high on samples here: hazelnut and Nutella crepes, high-octane cappuccinos, thin-crust pizza, goat cheese and tomato h’ors d’oeuvres, and candy! Not to mention wedding cake, natch… lots and lots of cake… fuel of champions!

We couldn’t resist a shot at one of the nearby booths featuring wedding decor, since the vendor had already gone home. (A vendor whose name I can’t recall right now, otherwise I’d link to them!) The TBP Team is still full of beans after a full day — go us!

Don’t be shy, stop by our booth… and eat cake with us :)

Once again The Brides’ Project will be featured at the National Bridal Show, and we’d love to see you there! Come to the shop and get your free pass — we have a limited number available on a first-come, first-serve basis. (They’re $13.50 online, $15.00 at the door.)

We’re also very excited to offer another green option for clients by teaming up with some talented ladies at Ryerson’s Fashion Design to showcase their redesigns of dated styles. You’ll be excited, too, once you see what they’ve done! Fresh takes will be shown at our booth, come by and check them out.

As a green-oriented, charity-driven bridal shop, we are the perfect partner to team up with the National Bridal Show. Here’s what they say about us:

Hey Everyone!

Following on our success from the National Bridal Show in September, The Brides’ Project is extremely happy to announce our participation at the National Bridal Show held at the Direct Energy Centre (CNE grounds) in Toronto from January 22-24. We are being proudly sponsored at the spring show this year, and will be onsite taking donations and scheduling appointments for brides to try on gowns at the shop. We will have volunteers at the show to help spread the word about what we work to achieve at TBP, but the shop will also stay open as we continue to serve the brides who’ve made appointments for next weekend.

*Please note that TBP will not be selling any dresses at the show itself*

More info for the National Bridal show can be found at www.nationalbridalshow.com.

We also have passes at the shop if you are interested in coming by. The show runs from Friday Jan 22nd – Sunday Jan 24th at the Direct Energy Centre (at the CNE). Show hours are Friday 5-9, Saturday 10-9, and Sunday 10-6. As you can see by the show’s website, we are one of the top reasons to visit! Stop by and say hi!

Hey Fans and followers!

The Brides’ Project is extremely happy to announce our participation at the National Bridal Show being held in the International Centre in Mississauga from September 11-13, 2009.  We are being proudly sponsored as key members of the Green Weddings feature at the show this year, and will be on site taking donations and scheduling appointments to help spreading the word about what we work to achieve at TBP!  *Please note that TBP will not be selling any dresses at the show itself*

The Green Weddings feature at the show is a collection of eco-friendly exhibitors,… so very in keeping with what we are all about.

More info for the National Bridal show can be found at www.nationalbridalshow.com

We also have passes at the shop if you are interested in coming by to check out us, and the other great exhibitors and vendors next weekend.  If you do come by, make sure you drop by booth 312 to say “Hi!”
