How are the winners determined?
The WeddingWire Bride’s Choice Awards ™ recognizes the top local wedding professionals from the WeddingWire Network that demonstrate excellence in quality, service, responsiveness and professionalism. Unlike other awards in which winners are selected by the organization, the WeddingWire Bride’s Choice Awards™ are awarded solely based on the reviews from over 1.2 million newlyweds. Awards are determined by a combination of four factors: Overall rating (quality), total number of reviews (quantity), review performance from 2011 (recency), and consistency of reviews from year to year (consistency). This year’s recipients represent the top 5% of WeddingWire’s vendor community, across all service categories and all regions throughout the US and Canada.
We are chuffed about the glowing reviews that brides have taken the time to write about us in Wedding Wire. We also appreciate the endorsements from our fellow wedding vendors. We know you have many options for wedding dresses, and we are pleased that you have chosen us. Thank you!

I’ve met so many terrific and supportive women since The Brides’ Project was conceived, and among them is Sophie Tolias. She was one of the very first donors to The Brides’ Project back in 2004 when it first began. It amazes me that people like Sophie have stayed in touch, and she has done everything in her power to further our efforts over the last 6 1/2 years. Her most recent contribution is an article in Good News Toronto as a freelance writer… and beautifully written!

For those who like having a bit of fun, and don’t mind being in the public eye… Slice Network has a new show called Inlaw Weddings and they’re looking for couples to take part! One of our clients here had previously taken part in Wedding SOS, and she had a hoot.
Here’s the information… feel free to contact them if you’re interested.
A week ago our Bride Army of chic volunteers strutted and sashayed for the cameras in boots to promote the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay For Life event that’s happening in two weeks: June 11.
Why boots? Because we’d LOVE to give cancer the BOOT! Photographer Dean Oros has a preview of the pictures he shot in Dundas Square, check them out here:
Meanwhile, CTV was there, too! You might’ve seen a clip of us on the 6pm news that day (Thursday, May 20). We also got on page 6 of the weekend issue of Metro. (Click on the link above to view larger.)
The Brides’ Project is a proud supporter of the Relay For Life event: we’ve got two teams relaying all night long. You can join us, or sponsor us!
For more information about our teams and how you can take part, please visit our previous post:

See you at the track!
Hello dear brides! On Monday January 11th, CTS Television will be here to film a piece for their television show called “Real Life with Sharon Caddy.” They’d like to see some of YOU here to try on dresses and experience what we have to offer. Their crew will be here at about 1pm, so please drop us a line if you can possibly pop by to give us a hand. Let’s make “Real Life…” as real as it can be!
Here’s the article on the CityTV website, October 2/09:
The annual CIBC Run For The Cure to benefit the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation took place last Sunday, and just like a bra, we were there for support!
(OK, that was a terrible joke, but what can I say, the team is called “Breast Defence” and I’m writing this in the middle of the night.)
The Brides’ Project was a proud sponsor for — and represented by — one of our new volunteers, her whole team sporting wedding outfits… of course! As proven every year with Relay For Life in June, the less *ahem* fashionable the dresses, the more we turn heads. Nevertheless, what a fine-looking bunch of participants on Sunday:
The team was photographed and featured in yesterday’s Toronto Sun… page 6 (?) — congratulations to all who participated! The Brides’ Project is behind you all the way!
Check out our video spot (we start at 0:58):

Hey Fans and followers!
The Brides’ Project is extremely happy to announce our participation at the National Bridal Show being held in the International Centre in Mississauga from September 11-13, 2009. We are being proudly sponsored as key members of the Green Weddings feature at the show this year, and will be on site taking donations and scheduling appointments to help spreading the word about what we work to achieve at TBP! *Please note that TBP will not be selling any dresses at the show itself*
The Green Weddings feature at the show is a collection of eco-friendly exhibitors,… so very in keeping with what we are all about.
More info for the National Bridal show can be found at www.nationalbridalshow.com.
We also have passes at the shop if you are interested in coming by to check out us, and the other great exhibitors and vendors next weekend. If you do come by, make sure you drop by booth 312 to say “Hi!”

Just in case you missed the show last night:

That Valentine’s Day originated in India?
Well, I’m not sure whether to believe this or not, but someone wrote in to the Calcutta Telegraph alleging that Valentine’s Day started in Gujarat hundreds of years ago. Apparently, Gujarati men, particularly the Patels, were renown for treating their wives (aka Patelianis) poorly. One wise woman had enough of that nonsense, and on one fine day that happened to be Feb 14th, she took action and beat her husband with a rolling pin (a ‘velan’). This started a revolt amongst the wives with their rolling pins when they realized the reaction was really quite positive. Thus, wives beating their husbands with rolling pins became an annual tradition on Feb 14th, and to avoid a good whuppin’, Gujarati men started bringing their wives treats and flowers every “Velan”-tines Day, and thus it all began.
If nothing else, it’s a great story to share!
Namaste from India…
