Fundraiser For Megan

Some information regarding a fundraiser being held in Barrie in honour of Megan, a young girl battling brain cancer:

First Annual “Tribute to Megan” Hospice Fundraiser CURLING EVENT!

Some of you may remember the feisty 8 year old girl you met a couple of years ago as we shared a day of creating pages together to complete an album and raising funds for Megan Whitwam as she courageously began her battle against her rare brain cancer. Sadly, Megan now only 11, is nearing the end of her fight. She is still so strong and is trying hard to hang on but the cancer is fiercely attacking her now and we really aren’t sure how much longer she will be with us.

This fundraiser of celebrating life and enjoying family times together is in honour of Megan. Please join us Valentines Day, Saturday Feb 14th 2009 at the Barrie Curling Club on Essa Rd for a day of family curling in the afternoon and/or adult Jitney in the evening while we support Hospice Barrie and the wonderful care they provide for families during end of life times as well as Megan Whitwam’s family directly.

Every family is invited to have some fun from 1:00pm-2:30pm or 3:00-4:30pm.

Fun activities and prizes!!

All shoe grippers and brooms will be provided. You are encouraged to wear helmets.

$25 per family for either session.

Then… later in the evening…. Adult Jitney!!!

7:30-8:00 is instruction (how to move and stay safe on the ice )

8:00pm fun schedule begins!! (please arrive by 7:45)

You will stay with your team of 4 (that either you created or we put you with if you register with less than 4 together) all evening, but play at least 3 ends with 3 other teams. You’ll have a blast as we play our own version of curling!

Adult evening is:

$25 per person or

$45 per couple or

$80 per team of 4.

Cash bar available all evening

Fun social upstairs for “Awards” ceremony afterwards!! Lots of fun!!!

A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated directly to Hospice Barrie and a portion will go towards completing all of Megan’s family photo albums and to her direct family needs. Registrations must be submitted before Feb 10th. Space is limited! Bring your friends! Spread the news!!
